School Building Information

The Rock Island Academy is located at 930 14th Street in Rock Island


The Rock Island-Milan School District operates on a modified year-round calendar.  School starts in early August, and students have 2-week breaks in the fall, winter, and spring. The Academy will serve students in pre kindergarten through sixth grade. 3 or 4 Head Start, 4 kindergarten, 5 first grades, 3 second grades, 7 multi-age third/fourth grades, 7 multi-age fifth/sixth grades, special education services available.


According to the Illinois School Report Card, there were 458 students in 2019. The average class size is 25.



Students should not arrive to school prior to  7:30 a.m.

Breakfast: 7:30-8:20 a.m.

Line Up Bell : 8:20 a.m.

Class Starts at 8:30 a.m.

Tardy Bell 8:30 a.m.

Dismissal 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday Early Dismissal: 2:10 p.m.

Half Day Dismissal: 11:45 a.m.

Hot Breakfast/Lunch Programs

A hot breakfast and lunch are provided to Rock Island Academy students at no cost. Students bringing a sack lunch may purchase milk for $.40.

Before or After-Care Programs

Students will have opportunities to participate in after school and intersession classes that are based on themes such as:  technology, math and science, fine arts, and more.

Parent Involvement and Opportunities

The Academy will insure strong parental involvement through the implementation of a “Parent Involvement Agreement.”  Parents will have multiple opportunities to become involved in their child’s education.  A “Parent University” will be created to give parents the skills necessary to assist their children with academics.

PBIS (Positive Behavior In Schools)

The Academy will be PBIS schools.  The school has already developed behavior expectations, instructional strategies, incentives, and consequences.

Safety, Parking, Crossing Guards

Students being bussed will be provided with a monitor while they are waiting for the bus and while riding the bus as well.  Crossing guards will be provided where needed.

Building Excellence Renovations

The Academy received approximately 6,500 sq. feet in renovations, and approximately 15,500 sq. feet in additions.
